Dinosaur Skull
If you can, please take the time to read this little thing I wrote for work. It shares a large part of my feelings about 3D printing....A huge benefit to 3D printing is being able to create teaching props for the classroom. Showing a picture of a subject matter is one thing, but being able to show a physical recreation of it is another. This is a 3D scanned model of a Deinonychus skull which means that someone with access to an actual skull took the time to scan it into a computer to create a 3D model for us to use! This is an incredible thing to be able to share with students or anyone who has a desire to learn about dinosaurs.Imagine a classroom full of grade school children learning about dinosaurs, and you have the ability to let them handle a dinosaur skull that you printed. Little 3rd grade me with his dinosaur toys and posters would have been fascinated! This is one of the powers of 3D printing. It is fun for making toys, but is just as useful for facilitating someone???s education.......If you read the whole thing, thanks! If you skipped to the end, thank you, too!
Poker Chips
I have been learning how to use the dual extruder on the Taz 6. I am happy with the progress so far!
Printer Stand
First dry fit of the stand for my 3D printer! Everything works so now it's on to paint and finishing!
Found Hinges
Finding things like these are why I scavenge the stuff people toss out. I got these sweet 90 degree hinges and some drawer glides. Almost always comes with the hardware to install as well!
Master Sword Update
The next part of the project are printed! Time for some post processing and cleanup. I can't wait to put this thing together!
Master Sword
Beginning of a new project. This one is going to take some time and involve lots of sanding and painting. It is a little outside my comfort zone, but I am willing to give it a try.
Ocarina of Time Spiritual Stones
Very happy with how these turned out. Any fan of The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time would appreciate these floating on a platform in their own temple of time.
Fidget Cube
Right before the Taz 6 blew a fuse, I was printing these fidget cubes. The kids love them, and I keep at least one in my office now.
Peg Board Marble Run Update
The initial pieces of the marble run are done! The parts all mount to a pegboard and can be rotated to a few different angles. This was a fun design project, and I am hoping to get some suggestions about how to improve this and maybe get ideas for additional pieces.Get the models over at Thingiverse and MyMiniFactory
Peg Board Marble Run
I have been working on the marble run lately. It has gone through a lot of iterations, this being the sixteenth. I am nearly at a point where I will be comfortable posting it. Soon!
3D Illustration
I'm attempting to take my illustration from a few days ago and bring it into the 3rd dimension. I have never attempted something like this before, and a lot can go wrong, but that's what experimenting is all about! Here's to a good print!
Marble Run Pegs
The evolution of the pegs I've been designing for my vertical marble run. I love that I can quickly prototype an idea and make changes based off of real world results. In case you're wondering, the peg on the right is pretty much the final version. Might change the handle bit, but the peg itself is done.
